We were all quite impressed by the new Fucked Up LP and here's a single featuring a track that was on it and one that wasn't. The one that was is called 'Crooked Head' and I've got to say it wasn't one of the standouts from my one listen to the album, to be honest it sounds a bit muddy and lame.. It's never as in your face as you'd like it to be but a lot of that seems to stem from the way it's been mixed, it ends up sounding more like the bombastic classic rock leanings of 'Hidden World' than the better tracks from the new one. Let's try out the other side.. 'I Hate Summer' is quite a bit more like it! It's still got that slightly epic production feel that, for better or worse, make this band stand out from their hardcore peers but it's simply a better tune. In some ways they remind me a little of ..And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead in their ambition, it doesn't always quite work out but you've got to admire them for trying to do something a little bit different. Good stuff really and you've got to admire the picture of two dogs ripping each others' faces off on the insert.
