2 Hot 2 Sweat - Half-Assed Rom-Com

2 Hot 2 Sweat. That was me last Summer. Just standing there in my speedos & designer shades smearing myself with fake tan and leering laviciously at all the young totty lining up to kiss my feet. Yeaaaaaaahrgggghhh. Well not actually. 'Half Assed Rom Com' is a 7"/CD by this lo-fi electro trash duo who last time won our coveted SOTW slot with some pervy slice of digital sleaze. This, to be honest, ain't quite up there but is an interesting enough diversion about the mundanity of shit relationships set to a mid paced electro thump with lots of burbling, zinging synths colliding like bad ice skaters over the lass's monotone vocals drawled in robotic fashion like a lazy CSS. With current interest in acts like Crystal Castles, this slightly misanthropic duo can no doubt fill a hole in your celluloid heart. 'Office Drone' on the flip reminds me a little of New York's "electroclash" duo Crossover. You really should check them out if you like these.

Following the success of debut single 'Your Space or Mine', shiny electro-pop duo 2 Hot 2 Sweat return with a disco-tastic assault on disappointing relationships 'Half-Assed Rom-Com'. The boy-girl duo bring a barrage of clashing influences to the table, mixing Matt's obsession with the adrenaline-fuelled guitars of My Bloody Valentine and squelching synths of LCD Soundsystem with Mia's love of the cooing indie of St Etienne and Ladytron's dark electro dance.  They have found allies in Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens, John Peel-inspired Dandelion Radio (and Peel's music fanatic sons Tom and William
Ravenscroft), which named 2 Hot 2 Sweat as Best New Band of 2007. They were recently asked to play an invite-only event in tribute to John Peel
as part of 2008's BBC Electric Proms. 'Absolutely brilliant' - Huw Stephens, Radio 1 'As abrasive as Yeah Yeah Yeahs but danceable as CSS…' - Artrocker
