When I was little I used to think all mines were called 'Arthur Scargills', so if I ever met him I'd probably say "Hey, Arth! You Are My Coal Mine." And if I said that I'd be quoting Copy Haho's new 7" on Teenage Lust. Ant says this sounds 'well Scottish' and it does remind me of Teenage Fanclub (the Fannies! lol), Brian thinks it's going to appeal to fans of the later Wedding Present stuff too. Good quality ass.October 13th sees the release of COPY HAHO’s second single, ‘You Are My Coal Mine,’ following their debut, ‘Bookshelf,’ championed by BBC’s Steve Lamacq and Vic Galloway (who they recently recorded a session for). 2008 has been an increasingly busy year for the band, with a host of shows and tours with Sebadoh, Times New Viking, Hot Club de Paris and Dirty Projectors to name a few.
Writing and rehearsing in a portacabin in the middle of a cow field in the North of Scotland (seriously), the band shun the dour (that’s ‘sad’ to you) outlook favoured by much of the Scottish indie-rock canon in favour of a shower of melody and twisted optimism.
