The Raveonettes
Blush/ Black and White
A Norman Records recommendation (14th November 2008)

This record left our Brett feeling happy.
The Raveonettes are back with a new one called 'Blush' and it's a fair bit different to their old stuff. You want reverb? We got more reverb that you can fucking handle. And more chorus. The 'guitars gone wall of sound' thing brings Glasvegas straight to mind and Brian reckons it sounds like The Radio Dept, which may well be more accurate given the Scandinavian link there.. Obviously it's compulsory to mention the Jesus and Mary Chain and the Velvet Underground in these situations too. I'm sure you know the score, it sounds like black clothes and indoor sunglasses. We like it!

What their label says...
The Truth: Supercool Danish rocksters THE RAVEONETTES still consist of Sune Rose Wagner (guitar/vocals) and Sharin Foo (vocals), although eagle-eyed Raveonettees might spot that for the October 25th London show little sis Loui Foo will be standing in while Sharin stays at home with new baby Molly Foo Edwards. The duo have announced a fantastic new 1,000 copies only single for November - proof, as if we needed any more, that you can't keep a good band down...
** Pregnancies or not, The Raveonettes' reputation has continued to spread on the underground throughout the summer, and sometimes in the most peculiar of ways. Firstly, the success of 'Daddy's Gone' might have had a new generation of kids reaching for their Raybans and rock trousers but it was only a year ago that an unsigned Glasvegas were hanging out at The Raveonettes' King Tuts show in Glasgow. Twelve months on singer James Allen has been spotted flagging up his love for The Raveonettes' current 'Lust, Lust, Lust' album in the NME.
** Secondly, street-mungous style troopers Gap commissioned The Raveonettes to write a tune for their spring 2009 campaign in the USA, and 'Black & White', the song in question, gets a UK release on the flip of 'Blush', which in itself is oft considered to be the bestest track on the whole of the 'Lust, Lust, Lust' album and finally gets the singular outing it so obviously deserves.
