Shared Islands/ Universe by High Places

The utterly wonderful High Places have a picture disc jobber out on Caff/Flick and it looks like it's 2 non album tracks. You know their sound from our reviews now surely but for the uninitiated, it's a flowing tapestry of pan-caribbean electronic rhythms, shuffling/stuttering along like a wonky carnival topped with these pure airy vocals from this wee lassie who sounds like she's ambling down the street on a sunny day with a small friendly dog by her side munching on an ice cream with not a care in the world. This kooky duo are trailblazers for "new primitivist" music which basically means "interesting" to me, the style is so freeform and each of the bands have their own unique take on things so why do these goons have to pigeon tag such free spirits? This is lovely and has a picture of them doing their live thang on one side, another with some blue sky on which is clearly where the limit for their ambitions lies (you can see the moon too which is always great). Brilliant, just brilliant.

Second 7" picture disc in the series featuring the work of the now NY based DAVID HORVITZ this time alongside that of Brooklynite rising tropical pop stars HIGH PLACES and including two exclusive new tracks SHARED ISLANDS/UNIVERSE. This is a co-production with our Alaskan/Japanese brothers at REVERSE RETRO.
