Lorenzo Senni - Early Works

Early Works by Lorenzo Senni

4...according to our on Thu 16 Oct, 2008.

Lorenzo Senni is a new name to me. Here's his debut album on Keshhhhhhhhhhhhh Recordings. I can't be arsed to count the H's... I know there's more than 1 and less than 10. It all seems un necessary to me though undeniably 'H' is a under rated letter. It's always about 'S's and 'T's around here which pisses me off. Anyhoo on with the show.... Early Works is an 8 track CD in an A5 (ish) postcard style sleeve with the cover having a flying killer whale in the background. Musically there's 8 tracks of crackly ambient sounding electronics sounding a bit like a scarier Machinefabriek at times. Some of the tracks sound like someone trying to tune a radio and getting loads of weird sounds and the odd melody creeping through as the radio tried to tune into a station. It's an interesting album with hints of Flourescent Grey in it's disjointed abstract behaviour. This will appeal to folks who like the harsher end of the Raster Noton gear.

This comes as a shock as it is a debut album that could easily be a raster-noton release by noto....having said that the tim hecker style of abstract sound moves it into touch/12k territory!brilliant and a stunning debut that one hopes launches the career of a special talent! bravo and ola :)
