OVERVIEW: In celebration of the band's 30th anniversary, Echo & the Bunnymen performed their classic album, with 3 special shows, where the group returned, after 25 years, to play The Royal Albert Hall on 16th September. 'Ocean Rain' was played in its entirety, backed by a 16-piece orchestra. Acclaimed musical director Rupert Christie, who recently helmed the live performances of Lou Reed's Berlin, conducted the orchestra. Released in May 1984, 'Ocean Rain', was The Bunnymen's 4th album which mesmerised Bunnymen fans and broke them to a much wider audience on the strength of such towering songs as "Silver", "Seven Seas" and the unforgettable "The Killing Moon". Rhino Records will release the newly remastered Collectors Edition of Ocean Rain on 27th October as a 2CD edition which will include a full disc of live recordings from the band's 2 historic 1983 RAH shows. The Bunnymen have just finished work on their 10th studio album entitled The Fountain, which is set for release in early 2009. The 1st single to be taken from the album, "Think I Need It Too" is out in October.
