This album gives you blues, glam-tinged rock’n’roll, 60’s psychedelia and a whole lot more, all subtly woven around Flipron’s unique brand of pop from another planet. ‘Gravity Calling’ is produced by legendary Damned drummer Rat Scabies, and mixed by David M Allen, producer of some of The Cure’s biggest hits. It was mixed on a one-off vintage 70’s desk, originally hand made for producer Conny Plank, the audio wizard behind many classic Krautrock albums. Lyrically these guys sit somewhere between Jacques Brel, David Bowie and Ray Davies; the intensity of the former, the descriptive ingenuity of the middle and the observational cynicism of the latter! Sonically, the band have taken a new angle with this album. ‘Gravity Calling’ is a more focused, confident record. As singer Jesse Budd says: “It’s like a hot rod version of the Flipron sound. A sort of go-faster, spangly paint-job version with big fat tyres. Pimp my Flipron, basically… “It’s only Englishmen who can be mad as wasps yet brilliant at the same time…. If you know anything about Flipron, you'll know never to know what to expect. Unique and measured madness.” – Get Ready To Rock. “Don't hail, just succumb to the most original band in the UK.” – www.musicOMH.com.
