Team Waterpolo - So Called Summer

So Called Summer by Team Waterpolo

Team Waterpolo are in the unfortunate position of having to impress me/distract me as I want a piss quite badly. Unfortunately they've failed on all counts as they provide us with nothing more than chanty prog pop with a bit of an emo tinge. The chorus makes me think of Busted or something. It's music for teenagers that wear sweatbands even though they've never picked up a tennis racket in their lives. 'So Called Summer' It's really catchy though and is just designed for some goon to play on local radio in the morning. Great sleeve though. 7" on Yo Yo Acabulco

** Team Waterpolo, Preston four piece of multiple musical comparisons but one unique sound, have already made waves with ‘Letting Go’, their debut single, and a MySpace and NME Track Of The Week.

** ‘So Called Summer’ was recorded in the South Of France at Black Box Studios which houses the mixing desk that once recorded much of Chicago’s best known hardcore bands including Ministry and Shellac as well as being the desk where Survivor’s 80’s rock classic ‘Eye Of The Tiger’ was, as they say, laid down!

** The track retains the musical magpie-ism that has seem comparisons with Beastie Boys, Weezer and The Beta Band amongst others but is essentially a rocking set of verses and an insanely catchy chorus that bemoans the lack of summer in the boy’s native North West.
