Greg Kelley - Self-Hate Index

Self-Hate Index by Greg Kelley

Greg Kelley is one of those experimental noisy types. He's had releases on Carlos Giffoni's No Fun label and here's his new CD on Semata Productions called Self Hate Index. Chirpy! If I'm reading the liner notes correctly I think this is basically Greg on a trumpet and not much else. It's not trumpet sounds as you and me would know 'em. Gone are the familiar brassy parps and they've been replaced by digitally enhanced wierdness. Trumpet digitally altered and cocked about with to make a reasonably difficult listen. Ok it's probably a very difficult listen. Tracks 3 (Shearing Husks) sounds like my headphones are broken and want a new job. But this is definitely a headphones album as theres quite a lot going on in there. Very experimental.... not really much in what you'd know as song structure or tunes but if you want something interesting and certainly very different then this is for you.

Tracklisting: 1 Stimulus Check (8:13) 2 These Are Distractions (8:20) 3 Shearing Husks (9:20) 4 Accumulating Errors (What Is Peripheral?) (8:51) 5 Vessel (4:02) 6 Anxious Drift (3:55) 7 Visiting Microphones (3:42)
