Hot Silk Pockets
Panda Eyes

This record left our Phil feeling unmoved.
Hot Silk Pockets are Reading's latest indie sensation apparently. We've just got their debut single (Panda Eyes) in on Stolen Records. Alas their all sealed up in tape so I can't review it. Thank god for myspace! Having said that it sounded so shit coming out of these speakers it made me so angry that I had to turn it off. I hate listening to music through computer speakers. Small tinny bastards they are making everything sound muffled. Anyway I can't really evaluate this single properly but I like the band name (though I keep wanting to call them Hot Silk Pandas for some reason).

What their label says...
The first release from Hot Silk Pockets. This is a ramshackle but utterly addictive pop song, with the perfectly titled ‘Ooh, Ooh’ as the bside. Hot Silk Pockets are based in Reading.
“….but no matter how much disco I gorge on, I can't stop listening to 'Panda Eyes'. It's not that they don't have any other good tracks, 'Ooh Ooh' is straight from the Orange Juice stable of collapsible beauty. But 'Panda Eyes' isn't lodged in their Glasgow heritage, rather it's playful and euphoric reverb glory seems to come straight from the Scandinavian pop of Peter, Bjorn and John or Love Is All. Awesome.”Alex Miller NME
