Ooh, I've got a right pair now! Two different 12"s with two Liquid Liquid Remixes on each.. In a frankly superb bit of planning three of these four tracks being remixed are all 'Optimo'.. The one done by Optimo (honestly, how we laughed!) treats the original with a bit too much respect to be interesting in its own right, but obviously it'd be physically impossible to take such amazing source materials and somehow make them shit so it almost can't help but be a winner. The other two doing that one are Matthew Dear (who surely would've done something interesting with 'Cavern'?) and DJ Sample who take more liberties. Then we've got The Loving Hand as the sole act showing any imagination with their song choice doing 'Rubbermiro'. None of us can quite see the point in this release but it's an enjoyable listen nontheless. This remix EP follows the release of the ‘Slip In And Out Of Phenomenon’ album earlier this year and is available across two 12” singles and as a digital download.
The single features a remix of ‘Optimo’ by Glasgow’s legendary Optimo themselves, giving them the DJs Twitch and Wilkes treatment and adding more madness to the track. Optimo Espacio is the hippest club known for its unclassifiable mix of underground sounds and styles.
Also featured is a remix by The Loving Hand aka Tim Goldsworthy from DFA, adding some disco/rock attitude to the song.
Last but not least, Texan native Matthew Dear also reworks ‘Optimo’. Dear has earned his international status over the course of a decade, getting his bearings on the DJ decks as a teenager to flooring sold out crowds at venues like Fabric, and releasing universally praised original productions.
