Endorsed by Yeasayer and MGMT, Chairlift are a nutty cut-and-paste trio who make warped-but-catchy electropop” The Guardian, “Equally away with
the fairies are electro trio Chairlift…they have a spooky Twin Peaks boogie side” NME. Being loved by two of America’s hottest bands is no mean
feat and in this case wholly deserved. Chairlift formed in 2006 to make music for haunted houses and by 2007 were living in Brooklyn and playing
shows with MGMT, Yeasayer and Mixel Pixel amongst others. Merging their Colorado roots with their new urban surroundings, the Chairlift sound
developed into a hypnotic, yet tongue-in-cheek style of synth-pop. Their first single for Kanine ‘Evident Utensil’ received massive critical acclaim
including ‘The best single from a Brooklyn band since like TV on The Radio or something”, or “just as at home in a David Lynch film as in the aisles
of a supermarket”
The band artfully fuses whimsical electro-pop with folk and tasteful psychedelic imagery.
