I've been eagerly anticipating this Doxa Sinistra 'Conveyer Belt' LP coming in, I only heard these a few months ago after downloading some cassette rips from one of those new-fangled blog things and they totally blew me away.. Some of their stuff is way ahead of its time. There are tracks on this Conveyer Belt album that you'd swear were produced by people on Warp in the 90s, yet this was recorded in the mid-80s.. Fair enough, it's not Delia Derbyshire out-Aphexing Aphex in the 1700s but still, pretty bloody impressive. As with a lot of the stuff in the European tape scene back then there's early Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle and nascent electro in the huge, looming industrial cement mixer of doom.. It conjures up images of horrific cities in a dystopian future, where people have been turned into little ants in a giant metal supermarket by an all-powerful wizard whose consciousness was forever fused to that of a Barcode Battler when he slipped on a carelessly left banana skin into a terrible experimental machine. As Ant has just said, this is totally the sound that Mr. Maxted was going for on that mysterious and amazing LP that came out a little while back. This is the first time it's been released on any format other than cassette and it's had a loving remaster to boot! Get one and put it on your record player!Re-issue of this mind blowing experimental and industrial cassette release from 1985.
