The Lorimer Sound - Greenstreets

Greenstreets by The Lorimer Sound

4...according to our on Fri 19 Sep, 2008.

New release on Weepop this week is from The Lorimer Sound and it's a treat. They're from the windy city, Chicago Illinois and have a classic, well rounded sound that has strong echoes of the Aislers Set. Over the 5 tracks on this dinky 3", sweet female vocals smother themselves over perky, jangly 60's inflected gems, both dreamy & urgent with a great deal of finesse. Like an American Heavenly if they had an a Byrds fixation, there's such a fluency and grace to these songs, they playfully tumble along with a really perky attitude. I especially like 'Notre Chanson En Francais', the closer, a downtempo number with shimmering guitar and spoken word French lyrics that proves they've plenty of scope in their vision. 'Greenstreets' is another nice addition to the ever growing cannon of quality releases on this sweet revivalist label!

Based in Chicago, Kristine, Dan, Christopher, Lisle and Amy mix Indiepop with early 60s britpop to create their unique sound: The Lorimer Sound. This is their first release and, as usual, limited to 160 copies.
