The Manhattan Love Suicides - Veronica / The 10th Victim

Veronica / The 10th Victim by The Manhattan Love Suicides

Fresh out the box is the Manhattan Love Suicides 'Veronica/ The 10th Victim' which scores 10/10 from me for having Charles Bronson on the sleeve. This is basically a pop record drenched in fuzz in an oldskool UK stylee alla Mary Chain and also bits of The Vaseline, early Primitives, and Shop Assistants in there too wearing a big fuck off fuzzy hat. Taking cues from mid 80's indie and refusing to take off their shades. It's actually a catchy tune. 'The 10th Victim' is a brooding, slowish tune. I prefer this one actually as it builds up a lovely sense of menace. A gloriously sinister tune. Cool 7" On Squirrel.

Quantity : 500 only. The first of 2 brand new double A side 7" singles to be released before the end of the year from The Manhattan Love Suicides. "Veronica" is fuzzed up female fronted pop at its finest.Recently added to the band's live shows and fast becoming a favourite track with Manhattan Love Suicides fans , it's 3 and a half minutes of Jesus And Mary Chain influenced noise and swagger. The flipside is "The 10th Victim" which was debuted just a few weeks ago at the Rough Trade East instore gig. This track displays the darker side of The Manhattan Love Suicides with droning guitars, spikey noise and a very definite nod to Velvet Underground and Nico tracks such as "All Tomorrow's Parties".
