Nat Johnson used to sing in Monkey Swallows The Universe but she appears to have left them to pursue her own career in music. 'Dirty Rotten Soul' is a 4 track CD single only release! The lead track has some nice skiffley shuffley drums, and a lovely jangly chorus about infidelity which is nothing short of catchy. Somewhere between Sons & Daughters and Eddi Reader maybe? The rest of the EP is a more sedate affair with it mainly consisting of vocals and guitar. The last track being a complete twinklefest.... I have to say the lead track does it for me.... I can't get the fucker out of my head now..... On Thee SPC!!Nat Johnson is the former singer, songwriter and guitarist of Monkey Swallows the Universe. Her debut solo single, ‘Dirty Rotten Soul’ is an energetic acoustic romp, showcasing Nat's sensuous vocals and sharp lyrics! It is backed with a delicious cover of ‘Mexico’ by Cake and the limited edition cd features two other bonus tracks. The single has been praised by Richard Hawley as “nice and dirty!”
