The Berkane Sol label returns with its sixth release – again by Nottingham-based producer Geiom. This song started life as a 2-step style instro with glowing chord progressions and a reggae style bassline. Vocal collaborator Marita then turned it into a soul classic – which proved to be maybe a little too tricky for the less agile dancers. It was notably championed by legendary DJ Oneman who likes his beats more swinging. Rebuilt from the ground up by Geiom into a fusion of relentless heavy kick drums, ancient snares, psychedelic flutes and dub/techno pads, this tune was then rinsed all over the world by DJ Appleblim and has now become a permanent fixture in the boxes of all the most influential dubstep DJ’s. Its popularity has been enhanced by some well selected live performances of the tune at events like Brixton’s legendary DMZ event – no need for auto tune and studio tricks – this lady can really sing. Kode 9 took the track into his Hyperdub lab and after much late night research came up with an alternate theory on how to attack the danclefloor with Reminissin’ - House styled organ stabs and sustaining string parts combine with a deadly rim shot to create a radically different version which still pays its respects to the original song. He reports back to us that unsuspecting clubbers are now fully infected with the Reminissin’ virus. It has already recieved a 5 star review in Mixmag and reviews of the remixes are forthcoming. It will feature as a special dubplate version on the forthcoming Dubstep Allstars 6 mix CD by DJ Appleblim. The ‘Geiomix’ of this track has become a bit of an anthem on the worldwide dubstep circuit through the sets of DJ’s such as Kode 9, Skream, Appleblim, Martyn, Pinch, N-Type, Chef and D1 to name a few.
