Clouds - Timekeeper

Timekeeper by Clouds

4...according to our on Thu 28 Aug, 2008.

More dubstep action from Finnish producers Clouds with the Timekeeper 12" on Ramp Recordings. Again these producers are pushing the template of what is considered dubstep with a cool musicbox sparkly sounding pretty approach. The big dub bassline is there but it's fairly downtempo and reminds me of some of the earlier records from the genre with a slight eastern influence in the melody and a less agressive tempo. A top little tune. Ras G turns in a more mangled remix that brings the melodica more to the fore and it sounds not unlike his buddy Flying Lotus who is apparently spinning this, as well as the likes of Kode 9. It fit's into that crinkled up hip hop/ dubstep gear like Samiyam and that...

They are from Finland. Their names are Tommi and Samuli. They are called Clouds. They have releases out on Argon, 2nd Drop, and Noppa. Their new tune is called Timekeeper. Timekeeper is being released on Ramp Recordings. Timekeeper sounds like Four Tet flicking Augustus Pablo with a wet towel infected with SARS, then both eventually being wrestled to the floor and given a sensuous massage by a naked and fully aroused Pete Rock. Tommi and Samuli like hip hop from L.A.. They asked Ras G to remix Timekeeper. Ras G is Flying Lotus’ best buddy. Ras’ favourite things include weed, Marcus Garvey, cheap samplers, and the continued misuse and abuse of low frequencies. His reconstruction of Timekeeper inhabits the B side of RAMP013. DJ support comes from Kode 9, Flying Lotus, and the usual suspects.
