And the first is from Glasvegas. I reviewed their debut single 'Go Square Go' a wee while back, threatening to throw myself in the path of moving traffic if I was to hear it again, utterly confident the bunch of shitehawks would piss off and sink like a lead elephant in a marsh. Unfortunately, I must have given them some kind of unintended midas touch from my negativity as this harrowingly epic Scots group are now the biggest band of 2008 and i'm stuck with their self-titled debut album on Columbia! Shit the bed. And now, I hate to admit, they've actually got one or two pretty fab numbers in 'Flowers & Fooball Tops', 'Geraldine' & Daddy's Gone'. That debut still sucks big time though, beefed up here to no avail. It's the unbridled passion his hearty Glasweigan moan/wail wrings out of your soul, you want to hug the poor sod, he's had an upbringing full of misery & tragedy but he's turning bitterness & resentment inside out and healing the world with his tales of woe. The big widescreen anthemic shoegazing sound really boosts the appeal of these post-Oasis plodders and they've genuinely developed a unique take on "arena-indie" although if I was forced to share a footy stadium with 50,000 Glas-fans for 2 and a half bleeding hours, I would have to resort to self immolation.....Hehe only joking! Thick LP, thin CD & fatter highly ltd CD/DVD set with live & studio moving pictures & everyfing.

i've had to turn it off - simple as that - i have expected to enjoy it but no, this is terrible - like being trapped in a particularly horrific and violent alan mcgee wet dream. check the twilight sad for grand anthemic scottish music done properly.
