What their label says...
"The Stills are back back back!" (NME)
In late 2007, Toronto-based record label Arts & Crafts signed Montreal's THE STILLS to a worldwide recording deal.
Evolution as a theme, and as a musical fact. THE STILLS have an exciting new record, called Oceans Will Rise. It marks not so much a departure for the band as a bold new musical stride forward, taking the distinct sounds of their previous two records, meshing and elaborating and distilling, and the result is a fresh, invigorating trek through a landscape at once familiar and entirely new. The music is varied, moving from edgy, hard rock anthems through ambient, tribal sounds and back again, all the while keeping a distinct and consistent feel. Oceans Will Rise considers the frailty of human existence, our place in the larger schemes of the natural world, and the possibility, or lack thereof, for positive change.
THE STILLS have an established fan base - their first album, Logic Will Break Your Heart, sold over 120,000 copies only in the U.S. and spawned the
hit singles "Still In Love Song" and "Lola Stars And Stripes". For their third album, once again working with producer Gus van Go, the band are back
with a refreshed outlook and bold new take on their unique sound. The album is fearless, filled with brutally honest songwriting and a big, organic rock
sound.
For fans of the Psychedelic Furs, Echo and the Bunnymen and Big Country.
