The Spinto Band are vaguely familiar to me (I think) and this week they have the first single off their forthcoming album. 'Summer Gorf' is a short but well formed little tune. Quite happy summer sing-along indie pop stuff here. Bits remind me of Los Campesinos and Those Dancing Days... It's that carefree fun vibe I'm getting. A welcome feeling as the battleship grey sky's loom and everything turns brown and dies. Still christmas is on the horizon.... Decent indie pop 7" on Fierce Panda.A. Summer Grof

The Story: Once upon a timeless melody, many winking moons ago, six young men gathered together in Wilmington, Delaware to create music. Those men were Joey Hobson (guitar / vox), Jon Eaton (guitar), Nick Krill (vox / guitar), Thomas Hughes (vox / bass), Jeffrey Hobson (drums) and Sam Hughes (keyboards / vox). And they rocked. Sweetly.
** 'Summer Grof' is the first release by The Spinto Band since the campaign for their critically acclaimed and still much listened to and loved debut album 'Nice And Nicely Done'. It's also the first single to be taken from The Spinto Band's new album, 'Moonwink', which is launched out of foxbase fierce panda on September 22nd.
** As befits the sunny season 'Summer Grof' is woozy but upbeat; laidback, but marching forward. Scrabble fiends might be disappointed to know that Grof isn't a new word, it's a Spinto-ism for actress / comedienne Janeane Garafalo. Old New Wave lags might be thrilled to realise that 'Summer Grof' is backed by a Spinto-ism of 'Airport' by The Motors.
