What we say
The Gutter Twins is Lanegan & Dulli, formerly of 2 important titans of "grunge" but you all know that. They're like the McAltmont & Butler of Yankrock. They've a new 7" 'Gods Children' out on Sub Pop which waltzes along sinisterly with a hint of impending apocalypse about it, building gradually up dramatically from a strummed guitar & hi hat, vocals quietly, gravely intoned, then the rest creeps into the mix, portentous drum rolls, lovely strings and an intermittently weeping lead guitar wailing tragically, to the nail biting finale. It sounds like the theme tune to a modern gun slinging epic & is the best thing i've heard from either of these stooges for a long time. Wicked sleeve too, well warped redneck shit! What the label says:To coincide with The Gutter Twins 2008 European tour a limited vinyl edition of one of the standout tracks from the album "God's Children". |
