Jesu / Battle Of Mice - Split

Split by Jesu / Battle Of Mice

4...according to our on Thu 31 Jul, 2008.

Just coming up stairs from the stockroom I hear a very distinctive sound, it can only be Justin Broadricks Jesu project. Yep he and his chums are back on the case with a split EP with Battle of Mice on Robotic Empire. Jesu's brand of slow motion shoegaze is stripped back somewhat on opener 'Clear Stream' Its more post rock than shoegaze really but it's full of passion and sounds pretty damn good. Not my favourite Jesu piece by a long shot as I like 'em a bit more fuzzed up. Brett is making a comparison to Pelican and I think I may have said that in the past so there must be something in it. 'Falling From Grace' has his vocal and all the drama that they create fully locked down. I particularly like the mechanical sounding beat. Battle Of Mice I'm unfamiliar with but they sure know how to rock in a post metal stylee with shouty female vocals. I want one of those new air guitars that I seen on the gadget show to play along. If you're after some quality heavy rock with doomy shades then look no further as this will have you punching the air proper. Speaking of mice some of the little blighters managed to get into one of our kitchen cupboards and eat they way into a 28 bag multipack of Walkers crisps. They must have thought they'd hit the jackpot... I noticed they mostly went for the prawn cocktail ones.
