Retro Crooks self release their debut single (I think). It's a CD single only release which is probably quite a rare thing in this day and age. Most singles are a 7" and download, 12" wax or a huge multi formatting bonanza. Well the Retro Crooks have half inched bits of the Arctic Monkeys and Libertines along with some twiddly Foals esque guitars bits to create their own sound. It's ludicrously bouncy and happy and that is my beef with a lot of indie music these days..... It's just too happy. I'm hoping that over the next few years the suffering will kick in what with the credit crunch 'n all... then we might start to get something different happening. These aren't a bad band at all. They sound pretty good really.... It's just nowt new.Retro Crooks are a four piece band from Enfield, North London. The combination of urgent guitars and fast paced lyrics create the bands distinctive sound. Self released, Conrad Dangerfield is the debut single from the Enfield based quartet. Set in two time signatures Conrad begins unlike how it ends. Jangly guitars and twisted drumming set the backdrop, while lyrically telling a tale of confusion. As the opening lyric states 'Here we are....
