The Spike is the second single to be taken from The Music’s new album, and first in 4 years: Strength In Numbers. A clear highlight and live favourite, The Spike is an aggressive sonic assault in the vein of Kasabian’s ‘Club Foot’ made all the more potent by the co-production team of Flood (Killers / U2) and Paul Hartnoll (ex Orbital).



Having sold in excess of one million albums worldwide, the band returned in 2008 with Strength In Numbers crashing straight into the Top 20. The new record documents a turbulent 4 years during which the band came close to collapse and it’s dynamism and new found drive is testament to, the still young, band’s determination.

Always one of the most exciting live bands in the country, this summer sees the band play festivals across the globe, including the prestigious Fuji Rock in Japan and Splendour In The Grass in Australia having already triumphed at a rapturously received set at this year’s Isle Of Wight festival. The band are also set to play the Reading / Leeds, T In The Park & Oxygen festivals over the summer as well as just completing a sold out UK tour which had The Sun’s Gordon Smart commenting: “Forget Kasier Chiefs, The Music are the best band from Leeds by a country mile...the band have just played one of the best gigs I have been to in years – Strength In Numbers deserves to be in the top 3”.

The Spike is backed by 3 exclusive new B-sides recorded by long time collaborator and friend, Richard Mcnamara of Embrace fame. The release also features a brilliant remix of the lead track by rising stars Lets Go To War.
