The Verve - Love Is Noise/ Let The Damage Begin (Live 2007)

Love Is Noise/ Let The Damage Begin (Live 2007) by The Verve

1...according to our on Fri 08 Aug, 2008.

When The Verve announced they were reforming I dared hope that they might surprise us all and come back doing something like the amazing shoegazey psychedelia of the first LP or at the very least the mint but more pedestrian sounding stuff on A Northern Soul. This was obviously about 91% hope, 8% insanity and 1% expectation. Their new single's here and it's called 'Love Is Noise' though it would've been better off being called 'We Deserve Nothing More Than Painful, Painful Deaths'. Honestly, this is the worst kind of MOR shat. It's terrifying to think that a band capable of something as amazing as that version of 'Gravity Grave' at Glastonbury could end up here, it's more embarrassing than Richard Ashcroft's solo stuff or him singing with Coldplay at Live 8. I mean he used to be cool as fuck.. I think Jason Pierce must've put some sort of smack curse on him for stealing his girlfriend or something, making him go all limp and shit. Worse still, they've dadrocked up 'A Man Called Sun' on the 7". This release saddens me.

The Verve are back!
One of the biggest selling and more influential bands of the last ten years have reformed and recorded an album of new material entitled 'Forth'. The first track to be released from the album is the phenomenal 'Love Is Noise', a track that has been highly anticipated since it was debuted at the band's Coachella show last year. The single has already been a smash at radio and has been climbing playlists since it's first play 2 and a half weeks ago.

I agree with everything said. What a waste of an amazing guitarist. What was Nick Mccabe thinking when they decided to release this. It just sounds like a solo Ashcroft album track. Whats the point of them reforming to release something as bland as this. If your thinking of buying this, dont, donate the money to Normans records tea fund, listen to 'A Northern Soul' and forget this tune ever existed.
