What we have here is a temporal document of a scene in constant flux. Witness it now, and keep paying attention. Features Xiu Xiu, Deerhunter and No Age.
The past few years have seen the cities of the US exploding with colourful noise. As mainstream pop music drifts further and further into antiseptic, programmed posturing, a new generation of DIY anti-heroes have kept busy in their hives, turning out beautiful and ugly screeds against boredom and conformity. One such hive is found in Los Angeles, and the DVD ‘New Video Works’ is a momentary Polaroid shot of it - over two hours of live footage of new, exciting bands and musicians making art alongside contemporaries from other scenes.
Some names you may have heard of, like Deerhunter, Xiu Xiu, No Age and Erase Errata. Others are just exploding on the LA scene and beyond, like Abe Vigoda (who tour with No Age later this summer), High Places, Soft Circle and Mika Miko.
