Pivot - O Soundtrack My Heart

O Soundtrack My Heart by Pivot

Warp obviously realised they were on to a good thing with Battles and signed Pivot up pronto, there's quite a similarity between the two with their melding of electronica with more rocky styles. O Soundtrack My Heart isn't really a patch on Mirrored but it's not bad at all, there just isn't much here that really gets my pecker up. The one real exception is 'Didn't I Furious', hammering away at you like Atari Teenage Riot crossed with Don Caballero, cool beans. It's quite a varied mister, at different points it sounds like early Zombi or Vangelis but the Battles comparison is always there in the back of your mind and that's the problem really.. It's not a total soundalike by any means so I'm probably making it all sound worse than it is, it's a good listen on the whole.

Hotly tipped Australian three-piece Pivot release their new album, described as “a John Carpenter soundtrack re-imagined by Battles, this is the place where intricate and party collide.” – NME.
Includes the pounding single ‘In The Blood’ (the subject of a Jaws-esque puppet video from the director of Coldplay’s ‘Yellow’ video).
CD packaged in deluxe digipack, plus gorgeous double vinyl, both featuring the breathtaking artwork of Michel Grainger (who previously did artwork for Jean Michel Jarre).    Backed with strong press and radio including (NME Radar, The Fly, Guardian’s band of the day and myspace of the week and XFM session).
