This record left our Phil feeling ecstatic.

In from Japan are a couple of CD's from Thomason Sounds. The first one is an Epic 45 reissue of their cracking EP England Fallen Over. This features the 5 track EP, a new song called Past Climates, 3 remixes by The Remote Viewer, Random Number and Oppressed By The Line. AND.... there's a video of England Fallen Over on there too. This is one of their finest moments this EP. The 1st pressing of 1000 sold out with weeks of release and this is the first time it's resurfaced and with all of that bonus gear 'n all. We have reviewed the CD before (though I cunningly can't find the review...) so you'll just have to make do with me saying it's smart and it's well worth checking out (if not for the original EP but also all the extra booty!)

This record left Mark Saunders feeling ecstatic.

I was searching for something interesting to listen to on MySpace, and I happened upon Epic 45's page. The first track to autoplay was England Fallen Over. And it's wonderful! It has the vague feel of an Orb or Groove Armada composition, maybe, but more direct and hypnotic somehow. Vocally, it reminds me most of early OMD (a high compliment), and has a similar feel to some of their songs like Statues maybe. I just love everything about it. It's well-produced, the melody is simple and repetitive, but in that Verve Bittersweet Symphony-like way where you can sit and listen to it for hours, the drums are perfect (and interesting in a "not-techno" way, like OMD again), the vocals are appropriate to the mysterious mood and nicely mixed. It's difficult to say how impressed I am with this! (I'm listening to the track as I write, and I can see myself hitting "repeat" for quite a while). There's nothing here to pick on as a poor element. I think I'm going to have to buy it!
