Just Like You and Me, DEANNE IOVAN's first foray into proper solo-dom is quite unlike the dance pop, drum & bass music that her band THE COME ONS was known for. Crafting a concept record that begins with a Casio overture, Iovan embarks on a more traditional pop journey, shamelessly influenced by her record collection of musty Burt Bacharach vinyl and Cole Porter musicals. This CD is dedicated to the "memory of my father's memory," and rightly so. All of the songs were inspired by her father's battle with dementia. Not exactly a downer, some of these songs will make you cry and that's not a bad thing. What heart can resist the tug of cascading harp notes and weeping violins? Of course you'll find the usual suspects of drums, guitar, bass and piano (the latter two courtesy of Deanne). The easy listening pop production comes from the steady hand of JIM KISSLING, who engineered and mastered the CD, co-producing and playing guitar on several tracks. These are old fashioned love songs about missing someone far away, feeling horny in the middle of the night and knowing that you're losing your mind. Just like You and Me tells us of our lives and all the people we love, even if they don't remember our names. Eleven beautiful tracks.
