OVERVIEW: Carny or Carnie is a slang term for a carnival employee, as well as the language they employ. A carny is anyone who runs a "joint" (booth), "grab joint" (food stand), game, or ride at a carnival. Unlike his latest single title, Man Like Me needs no explanation. Since his sizzling grime/rave-house release “Oh My Gosh”, dancefloors have been a happier place and his myspace fans have had a T-shirt to rival “Frankie Says Relax”. Vice went one step further describing it as, “so catchy it’s hard to believe no-one wrote it before”. As well as ramming London clubs with his familypack of grime, electro, hip hop and funk, and touring with Chromeo, Man Like Me main-man Johnny Langer has been busy in an East London studio with New Sins producer/keyboardist Nick Phillips. “Carny” is the first of their collaborations – a joyous summer hit complete with Man Like Me’s own style take on the world. Think Basement Jaxx producing Skinner or Sovereign and you’re half way there. Then imagine yourself on Carnival day…
