Elaine Palmer - Waves

Waves by Elaine Palmer

Elaine Palmer hails from Danby, a sleepy village on the North Yorkshire Moors, a stone throw away from the idyllic fishing town of Whitby.
After seeing her play live, Inspiral Carpets’ Clint Boon invited Elaine to record some demos at his home studio. The culmination of this would turn out to be her first album ’Into The Spotlight’ released on Clint’s ’Booney Tunes’ label.
Following the release of the album Elaine toured extensively and played with Bonnie Prince Billy, King Creosote and Adem amongst others and received a rapturous reception at both the Greenman and Wickerman festivals.
’Waves’ was recorded with Julie McLarnon (Lambchop, Nine Black Alps, etc) at Manchester’s Analogue Catalogue and sees Elaine’s musical talents come to the fore with her playing intricate finger picking on both Classical and steel string guitars, accordion, harmonium, piano, chimes and piano strings.
Members of Lambchop also contributed on double bass, cello, drums and electric bass. All of the above coupled with Elaine’s extraordinary voice gives the album a certain charm and character.

REVIEWS:
- "With a beautifully conversational voice, an unerring sense of melody and a bittersweet and wistful repertoire, Elaine Palmer is undoubtedly a talent. (Mojo)
- "Beth Orton at her most ethereal is perhaps the closest comparison, but even then it’s a hint rather than a steal." (Uncut)
