It's nice to have Awkward Silence back with their lovely 3" split CD's which are always a treat. The Milieu / The Dandelion Council one is no exception. Milieu is an extremely prolific artist with already an enormous discography. For this release he turns in two tracks. 'Coastline' is a slow melancholy piece of electronica with a gorgeous summer vibe and pretty melodies wrapped around a simple beat. The stuff he produces like this is quite different from his beatless ambient gear. He has a few different sides to his productions and 'Night Winds Detuned' is another sweet tune along the Boards tip.The Dandelion Council I'm unfamiliar with and they provide a good contrast to the EP with really minimal, delicate guitar and tender vocals on 'St Elmo's Fire'. Meanwhile 'Indian Summer Sun' has a genuinely beautiful melody and ghostly atmospherics that remind me a little of FSOL. 'Pine Trees and Stars' closes the set wonderfully... short but sweet.Milieu:
'Coastline'
'Night Winds Detuned'.
The Dandelion Council:
'St. Elmo's Fire'.
'Indian Summer Sun'
'Pine Trees and Stars'.
300 copies.
