Kong. I imagine this 7" on White Drugs/ Brew Records to be a big, shaggy aeroplane punching, tragic femme munching, socially erm...troublesome sorta record. I'm actually pretty on the mark with that one. 'Blood of a Dove' harks back to the days when post hardcore and yank rock was scratchy & discordant like barbed wire, clanging along like a toppling field full of oil drums and warped like a serious drugface's perception of reality. It's a wonky, grizzly beast with some nice loose maths-y touches and no steady tune as such, just loads of belligerent off-kilter riffing, tumbling, banging & cascading jazzcore drums, meaty & gruff bass strides & a vocalist who needs some strepsils action, soonish like.... A great single with attitude that I'd have bought gleefully 15 years ago but it's up to the new generation of Chicago-esque noise fans to embrace this for it's a mighty slice of bent audio!Limited clear vinyl, Blood of a Dove/Hint of Rennit Innit is the debut single from Manchester’s Kong (consisting of Steven Hodson and Mark Heron, from Oceansize and Jon-Lee Martin formalley of Fi-Lo Radio). 2007 saw the band hit the road supporting Nine Black Alps. Previously the band had toured with Biffy Clyro and Future of the Left. Blood of a Dove & Hint of Rennit Innit are like listening to car crashes that you know shouldn’t be looking at but you can’t help yourself. They've got the grinding machine shop attack of Shellac or Oxes with the groove of a bunch of Prince fans who dabble in the dark arts. In support of the release the band with be heading out on a 10 date UK tour in late July/early Augus and plans for a second single and an album later in the year.
