The Marked Men - The Marked Men

The Marked Men by The Marked Men

Dirtnap Records is proud to present our ¬st ever reissue, the long (well, if you count 3 years as long!) out of print 1st album from Denton/Dallas/Ft Worth modern legends The Marked Men! The Dirtnap Records A&R dept passed on the chance to release this record when it was originally recorded , and we've deeply regretted it ever since! (we're STILL slapping our foreheads and asking ourselves what we were thinking!) But in their wisdom the band gave us a second chance, and Dirtnap released the 2nd Marked Men album, On The Outside in May 2004. On The Outside went on to be the most acclaimed Dirtnap release in the post-Exploding Hearts era, e ectively crossing over a bunch of stupid genre boundaries and turning a whole ton of folks from all walks of punk life onto the genius that is the Je Burke / Mark Ryan songwriting machine! A little faster, leaner, and less polished than their most recent stu , this album serves as the missing link between the choppy, KBD-style inclinations of their previous incarnation as The Reds (The Reds being 3/4ths of the Marked Men with Chris Pulliam, currently of Dirtnap TX all star band The High Tension Wires on bass) and the tighter, fast-pop sensibilities they began to explore starting with On The Outside and continued on through Fix My Brain. (2006 LP released on John Reiss of Rocket From The Crypt/Hot Snakes fame's Swami Records) Originally released by Rip O  Records in early 2003, this record has been unavailable since 2005. Since then the Marked Men have been steadily gaining in popularity each year. But as word about 'em spreads, many of their newer fans don't even know this one exists, much less have ever heard it. (while some of their older fans maintain that this is their best record) So this one'll be new to a lot of people, including many current Marked Men fans! While they're a little less active these days, look for more Marked Men-related stu  coming later in 2008, including a 7" from Je  Burke's fantastic side-band, The Potential Johns. Also make sure to stock up on both High Tension Wires albums (High Tension Wires being Je , Mark, and Mike from Marked Men, Chris from The Reds, and Mike Weibe from Riverboat Gamblers' on vocals) on Dirtnap, as well as On The Outside LP/CD! The vinyl version of this album contains a coupon for a download of the entire album.
