What we say
This record left our Brett feeling happy.
Hard to know where to start with a varied compilation like this Brainwash one, it runs the gamut from post-rock to folk to leccytronics to heavier stuff to blah blah blah, the vast majority of it pretty good too. I'm particularly liking the collaboration between These Monsters and 7 Hertz as well as the Pulled Apart By Horses track which rocks like a mofo. The party piece is definitely the epic last tune from Humanfly and Rose Kemp, with crushing riffs from the former giving way to a sinister, chanty quietness (which Ant and I simultaneously said sounds suspiciously like Om) then going on to early Godspeed-y chiming with spoken word business from the latter. Just so you've got a fuller picture of things, the other people on the disc not mentioned here or in the blurb are Jonquil, Random Number, Year of the Man, Dinosaur Pileup and We Vs. Death. Well worth a look!
