Subway - Simplex

Simplex by Subway

Subway’s new 12” single is a startling cosmic marriage of influences – German electronic rock music from the 1970s (Cluster, Kraftwerk, Neu, Harmonium, Ash Ra Temple), 80s Detroit science fiction techno (Carl Craig, Juan Atkins, Jeff Mills) and a hint of Italian and European Disco (Baldelli meets Cerrone, Space, Giorgio Moroder and Jean Michel Jarre).   This new single features a killer mix (featuring live guitars, handclaps and more) by current DFA / Dissonant man-of-the-moment artist Gatto Fritto which adds a sublime Arthur Russell / New York experimentation, ambience and feel to the title track ‘Simplex’.
Subway are Michael Kirkman and Alan James and they have been releasing music since 2000 on a variety of labels including Sunday Best and their own Threetone Records.
These exclusive new tracks are a taster for their forthcoming album to be released on Soul Jazz Records in Autumn 2008.
