Just what is it with this Micachu lady? She's a genius! Only on her 2nd single and she's got me all excited about her album. She makes the most vibrant junk shop electronic indie music, a little reminiscent of the style Dutch madhead lass Solex was doing years ago, 'Golden Phone' is this hyper lullaby malfunction-pop thing with charismatic sing-song vocals. The flip is just plain barmy, starts with a vacuum cleaner then goes into M.I.A. meets Cocorosie territory with rudimentary snare cracks, distorted fuzz guitar effects, a sideways disembodied vocal that really affects me (she sounds like a UK equivalent of K Records duo The Blow!) and woozy keys, like some homemade garage pop ballad. It's remarkable stuff, you just rush to play it again. The 'A' is just really fine, the 'B' is IMO amazing. My SOTW!

Brilliant wonky pop debut single from rising star Micachu.  An experimental blur of pop, electronics, guitar and quirk makes this a truly unique record.
