Schizo Fun Addict are a right bunch of cunts. No really, that's a good thing. They force a smile & a shake of the head of this scratchy bearded old cynic by being utterly mental, like all over the shop! Old skool party maniacs from NY I suspect who once commandeered a bunker party inSIDE a maintenance shed in one of the Brooklyn Bridge's foundations!! To try describe 'Imperial Quasar' is like trying to describe a musical paintball fight. On phat drugz. they swallow shoegaze, madchester and wobbly underground rave whole & throw up multicolored barking DIY techno insanity back in your face. Some stuff on this comp of impulsive odds 'n' sods could be the work of Bran Van 3000's hyperactive cretinous children, bits are like Seefeel crossed with Senser, parts are like Fluorescent Grey being gobbled by Lionrock but this ultimately is the timeless sound of the suburbs and makes my spine tingle, my ears smile. Wicked stuff & great after some erm....refreshment!!

If they're calling this sound "new rave" then Schizo Fun Addict were fucking way too early for the party. Schizo Fun Addict's first two albums, Just a Dimension Away and Diamond plus a legendary clandestine happening inside a maintenance shed under the Brooklyn Bridge back in 2002 are witness to the electronic audacity of this lofi indie rock feedback laced sonic guitar soundscape machine. Noted by Valerie Potter in the Feb. 2001 issue of Q: "A Pandora's box of sonic tricks. Allegedly inspired by the Rave scene, Schizo Fun Addict have painstakingly sewn together an intricate patchwork of sound for their initial offering..."

The first two albums, dirty lofi bedroom recordings, were heavily praised by Paul Johnson for UNCUT, including a 4 star review of Diamond in the August 2001 issue: "...an album of astonishing diversity - white noise drone, bubblegum indie pop, rudimentary electronica and percussive sound sculptures, all captured teetering on the knife-edge between cohesion and collapse." Everett True threw kudos in both MOJO and New York Press: "New York’s Schizo Fun Addict have a fascinating...approach to male/female harmony that instantly lifts them above their more mundane peers...Sure, they sound psychedelic, if you choose to equate psychedelia with confusion and mystery and sex. Guitars reverberate through a delirious and saturated haze..."Victory Position" contains beats so distorted they could take the next Creamfields Festival by absolute storm, no worries."

In April 2002, New York Street Report published this psychotic "indie Rave" review: "At about 3:30AM, I was handed a flyer for an after hours gig for a band called SCHIZO FUN ADDICT which boldly claimed, 'the greatest clandestine venue in the history of rock and roll.' Anybody who wanted to attend was told to be out front at 4AM when a white van would pick us up... The van deposited us at the Brooklyn Bridge... we were escorted into an abandoned maintenance shed inside a column of the bridge. Stunning! This was totally illegal. The DJ was playing a mixture of...STONE ROSES, CHARLATANS, HAPPY MONDAYS, as well as big beat and hard house trance. Blunts were passed around the small cavern with 20 foot stone ceiling and four walls filled with acidic visuals and strobes. There is no possible way to describe the sheer uncontrived experimental quasar of sound this crew put out...picture early VELVET UNDERGROUND working with THE APHEX TWIN remixing SONIC YOUTH's first album." nycstreetreport.faithweb.com

Schizo embraced the true spirit of 2007 and boogied down harder than most - showcasing exciting esoteric artists via their cult limited edition radio program - "THE NEW RAVE EMISSARY". Broadcasting on 88.7 WRSU FM radio - from New Brunswick NJ all the way to Manhattan (on a clear day) - and the world via webcast then documented for history by the free Itunes Podcast - http://thenewraveemissary.podomatic.com - Jet Schizo (aka Kice Quasar) and Hadrian Schizo (aka The Spectacle) sought out the darkest filthy happy experimental shit around while scoring live interviews with DJ Silverlink and rave nomad, Eric - Liquid Grandmaster. Kleerup, Kids on TV, Dolby Anol and Pony Unique recorded snazzy station IDs while details of obscure UK new rave happenings were broadcast. The amazing global listener response consistently crashed WRSU servers.

So now it's 2008 and Schizo Fun Addict are busy putting the finishing touches on their fourth proper LP, The Sun Yard. Meanwhile, the time is right for this cheeky titled collection of electro offerings spanning the last eight years. Half of this record consists of remixed and remastered previously released material while the other half are new offerings for 2008 including the epic single, "Dream of the Portugal Keeper (Waster vs Jet Paraclete Mix)". You can skip the glowsticks, but please praise the fucking beat. Amen!
