Death Cab For Cutie - Cath

Cath by Death Cab For Cutie

3...according to our on Fri 18 Jul, 2008.

Phil has just been parading around the office singing Milli Vannilli 'Girl You Know It's True'. He jokingly asked me if I had it and he got a shock when I pulled it out of my stash and put the "Subway mix" on. One of the distros just rang and must have heard it playing in the background thus destroying any perception they may have of him being cool... And onto Death Cab for Cutie and their 'Cath' 7" on Atlantic. It's big powerful well written American pop. It's not blowing me off but I wouldn't stick my head in the oven if it came on the radio while I was cooking in my kitchen.

TRACKLISTING: 1 Cath, 2 Styrofoam Plates (Live from Daytrotter Session)

OVERVIEW: Cath is the second single to be taken from Death Cab for Cutie's stunning sixth album Narrow Stairs. The album entered the UK chart in the Top 25, the first time the band has broken the UK Top 40, and debuted at number 1 in the US. The release of Cath coincides with a set of UK live dates, including London's Brixton Academy on July 17th. Produced by the band's own Chris Walla, Narrow Stairs is shaping up as Death Cab’s most-praised work to date. The Fly wrote "Death Cab prove themselves masters of a bigger picture…magnificent", whilst Uncut declared that "the LP extends the soundscape to IMAX proportions". Reviewing Death Cab for Cutie's Electric Ballroom show earlier this year, which sold out within a day of tickets going on sale, The Guardian proclaimed the band as being "at the peak of their powers" in a glittering five star review.
