Hulk - Rise Of a Mystery Tide

Rise Of a Mystery Tide by Hulk

There's a crone on the phone and all she does is moan about the tone of the drone I'm listening to that she feels in her bones while she's eating her scone (posh pronunciation) and taking out a loan in Peterborough. That'll teach me to speak to my mum at work. The joke was on her though, as she found out when I shouted "Shut up mum! This is more like ambient with the odd drone thrown (scone) in for good measure!" The artwork for this Hulk album (Rise of the Mystery Tide) isn't really an accurate preview for the music - it's cool though, the digipak's covered in cartoonish grotesquery that suggests something more abrasive than what you get. It's actually quite floaty, emotive and contemplative, slightly reminiscent of Sigur Ros' more minimal moments. Apparently this is some sort of concept album based around dream moods and I can well imagine loving this while I'm going sleepy bye-byes on a night.
