SixToes - Four Leaved Clover

Four Leaved Clover by SixToes

4...according to our on Thu 26 Jun, 2008.

Here's a debut 7" by Sixtoes called 'Four Leaf Clover'. This is limited to 300 copies and it's a nice slab of gentle singer songewirter folk with a hint of darkness about it. Some nice maudlin strings in it and there's a hint of Zach Condon about it. It is well mardy though so if you want something happy stay well clear..... I like it all mardy though as that is my chosen genre of music.

“Scruffy, sinister folk rock. Something like Anthony and the Johnsons singing the scariest words of Aleister Crowley. In hell”. – NME

“A slice of edgy, scaffold-side folk and a voice like a schizophrenic eunuch.” - Time Out (Pick Of The Week)

After touring with the Mystery Jets and remixing Mute Records artist Maps in 2007, SixToes retreated to the fenland backwater town of Ely to build a small home studio sandwiched between the mental asylum and historic cathedral to record their debut album. Limited to just 300 copies and their own label, ‘Four Leaved Clover’ b/w ‘Reggae Song’, is SixToes debut single and first fruits from this recording session. Musically it sits somewhere between Nick Cave, Beirut and John Martyn.
