The Day Sleepers - Twilight Bloom

Twilight Bloom by The Day Sleepers

4...according to our on Thu 17 Jul, 2008.

More shoegaze sounds this week, this time from the from The Day sleepers and their 'Twilight Bloom' 7". They combine that kind of sound (particularly in the vocals) with that early eighties chiming guitar thing that every bugger was using back then, have The Chameleons for a comparison if I really MUST be specific. The press release says a hint of Slowdive but there's general amusement at that here in the office, Phil reckons they're made as much of Slowdive as chips are made out of potatoes. Nonetheless, they do it very well.

This is the tenth in the 'As & When' series of singles released by London live night/record label Club AC30 - limited edition (200) numbered 7"s and digital release. The Daysleepers are four creative individuals from Buffalo NY and share a common love for shoegaze and post-punk. Their debut album 'Drowned In A Sea Of Sound' was released last year on Clairecords to much acclaim. Their sound encompasses elements of Cocteau Twins, Cure and Chameleons, with a little hint of Slowdive, hazy guitars and warm synths. 'Twilight Bloom' is a blessed-out introduction to what The Daysleepers can do.
