Immune - Not Until Morning

Not Until Morning by Immune

4...according to our on Thu 26 Jun, 2008.

Onto another of my favourite albums of the week. It's also a French artist and this lot are called Immune and here's their new album called 'Not Until Morning'. In a nutshell this is just like Hood and Talk Talk... in fact if you wanted to imagine what Hood and Talk Talk would sound like it would sound exactly like this bar the vocals. Shuffling jazzy drums, introspective vocals, beautiful piano, gorgeous interspersed guitars all spaced out beautifully giving the song time to breathe... that's just the first track. The rest of the album follows a similar path. I'm reminded at times by another French band called Bed who do the Talk Talk tremendously well but this is more like Hood than them. It's a very delicate album which is bursting with feeling and emotion. I've just given my daughter pineapple for the first time (I'm feeding her while doing this....) and she's looked at me like I'm a complete wanker. Hey ho... I love the guitars in this... track 4 really does it for me (I have no track listing here but the guitars in it are everything I like about this sort of music...) In a word.... Hood but done so very very well, you won't mind I reckon. I think its well good.

« Not Until Morning is Immune at its true core. Since Sound Inside; (2006 / Stilll), the band dropped most of its electronic element, putting acoustic guitars, drums and organs forward: resigned and bare, their songwriting slowly wraps the listener, in a record that sends him drifting among layers of sound...

Although reminiscent of bands like Tindersticks, Talk Talk or Hood, Immune evolve in their own universe and explore a different aspect of their sound like they would a desolate emty house. A house one would need to explore many times, one that would unveil a few of its secrets at every visit.

A remixed version of Not Untill Morning; will be available for free download, and features collaborations with Braken (Hood), aMute, David Fenech, Silencio, Num9, Nim is a Tree, and more.
