‘Beg To Differ’ is the debut artist album from grime and dubstep pioneer Plastician. Opening track and lead single ‘Intensive Snare’ features self proclaimed “King of Grime” and long time friend Skepta, and is an ode to seminal dubstep night FWD>>, and having been a staple of sets from Boy Better Know, Mary Anne Hobbs and Plastician himself, is now a firm club favourite, demanded for release by members of Dubstep Forum. With a running time of only 45 minutes, ‘Beg To Differ’ is a carefully programmed and complete listening experience, an example of the variety within grime at it’s best, ranging from beautiful and fragile introspection to intense and unrelenting aural assaults employing Skepta and Frisco of Boy Better Know on vocal duties, alongside Temz, Chronik and Esco of notorious grime favourites Slew Dem. In calling the album ‘Beg To Differ’, Plastician challeneges the doubters of grime who believed the sound could only thrive in London. As the first DJ booked to play grime and dubstep in Japan, Africa and North America, Plastician’s unique sound has been recognised by music lovers and industry heads across a number of genres. His wide appeal and ear for dancefloor movers has seen him commissioned for remixes of MIA (XL), Alter Ego (Skint) Kosheen (Moshka) and Black Ghosts (Southern Fried). After holding down a monthly dubstep and grime slot on BBC Radio1, Plastician has since returned to the critically acclaimed Rinse FM where he continues to showcase the best in grime and dubstep, including his own productions. “Plastician turned many unconverted onto grime and dubstep and it’s apparent to see why here. 4/5.” – Uncut… “A sinister alternative to the multi-waved Skream and the malevolent Burial... Plastician merges elements of dubstep and grime into a distinct, flavoursome hybrid. 4/5.” – Clash… “4/5.” – DJ.
