My fave band name today is The Strange Death of Liberal England. I've never heard 'em before because I was skiving off work for 8 months and their 3rd single 'Angelou' is upon us already. They've got lots of segments to their tuneful anthemic indie and the main vocalist has a startling pitch to his voice going on which makes it all sound quite Sparks-ish. like Sparks crossed with a poppy Vessels or summat. I dunno, there's brass flourishes and a total air of quiet majesty about them which i'd really love to check out live. The music is full of passion for sure and straddles many genres and they're definitely celebratory & distinctive. That voice though...bizarre to say the least. Somewhere between Arcade Fire & JJ72?

The new single from The Strange Death Of Liberal England was recorded with producer Dave Allen, who also produced seven albums by The Cure. The song ‘Angelou’ is inspired by a rare painting by Millet, copied by many artists including Salvador Dali. The Strange Death Of Liberal England are currently preparing to record their debut full length album (the follow up to critically acclaimed mini album ‘Forward March’).
