Funeral for a Friend next. They do that earnest furrowed brow emo-metal like Lostprophets and all that don't they? They've had 9 top twenty hits apparently. 'Waterfront Dance Club' may be their tenth. I like the solid rock drums and all the fake drama that makes ghoul faced kids punch the air. The guitars collide seamlessly and playfully making lots of pretty, tuneful patterns and the whole thing comes across as pretty solid, anthemic modern radio rock, well produced and dynamic. It's a limited powder blue vinyl is this and to be utterly truthful, I really didn't mind it one iota although it made me feel a little old, like. Gimme Mastodon personally, they've got big hairy balls innit!!!After three gold selling albums and nine Top 20 singles Funeral For A Friend are back with a new single on their own Join Us Records label. The double A-side will be release on a tasty limited edition baby blue coloured vinyl 7” (2000 copies). The double A-side sees the band return to the intensity of their earlier material and melding it seamlessly with the melodies of their more recent sound. The band’s mini headline July tour sold out in just 20 minutes. A full headline UK tour to be announced soon to accompany the band’s forthcoming fourth album.
