Khora is the fifth full-length by Aufgehoben. Since therelease of their previous album, Messidor, the group hassomewhat relaxed their strict commitment to anonymity byallowing their names to be known and photos to be taken, and even playing a few well-received live shows. Messidormay have been mellower, but the progression displayed onKhora leads one to believe that full-on rock may be in thecards for this group, who have seemingly removed the elbowpatches from their jackets and rolled up their sleevesfor good. The album begins with three short pieces, sonic examplesof texture meeting metallike a djinn trapped in moltengold, attempting to burst free from his cage but only managingto express rage via infinie temporary sculptures rangingfrom the nightmares of the Mtter Museum to futuristicexpressions of nature not yet captured by a conscious eye.The final track is 28 minutes of pure glory that will surelybecome one of noise rocks classics. Massively blown-outand beautifully recorded, Jederfursich&#xu201D; lays down twinmirrors side by side as a model of infinity is allowed tomorph through sounds that recall the energy of existenceand the sand of time itself.
