About the only thing I can do today is slowly type & listen to some tunes of mellow persuasion. Now I know why Phil doesn't like slamming techno & noise when he's feeling like shite. Yes I'm at home, I've got (probably man) flu and I can just about handle Summer Cats from Melbourne Oz, as they make some divine shambling indie pop spilling with sweet M/F vocal harmonies, tumbling drums, joyous ramshackle guitars and the kind of kindred spirit that would have them knighted in Olympia, WA were they not from sunnier plains. The quality of the songs is certainly not to be sniffed at, they sound like they've a fine pedigree and endorse whirling organ & cowbell to embellish their spunky twee gems with influences apparently numbering Go-Betweens, Stereolab & Modern Lovers but the whole thing could easily be rattling out from the grooves of a K records 7", rather than this charming 3" CD on WeePOP. Also for fans of the traditional end of Sarah Records, these 5 tracks cover many bases and moods from wistful acoustic lullaby to off-kilter early MBV jangle-noise pop making 'Passion Pop' an indispensable purchase for the discerning old skool indie kid. Lovely! Includes free folded paper fortune teller that's as cute as.....WeePOP!017 - Summer cats - Passion pop
